Symptoms
- You use Acronis bootable media or run an operation that requires reboot, for example, recovering system partition or cloning.
- The operation fails with error like:
This Kernel requires the following features not present on the CPU:pae– unable to boot – please use a kernel appropriate for you CPU.
Cause
PAE is a processor feature that enables x86 processors to access more than 4 GB of physical memory. If the processor in your computer does not have this feature, you won't be able to boot it with Acronis bootable media.
Solution
We have developed a custom build, which does not require PAE. Please contact Acronis Customer Central and request the build. Download and install this build on your computer. Recreate bootable media.
