Description

If you intend to use two different Acronis Personal products on the same machine, e.g. Acronis True Image and Acronis Disk Director, you should first install the product that was released earlier, and follow by installing a more recent product. These products use some common components, and thus a more recent product should be installed last, to provide the later version of the component.

Installing a more recent product first can lead to errors as the newer product will not be able to use older common components correctly. The results may include backup errors, disks not detected by one or both products, one or both products not launching properly.

Please find below the order in which the products were released. The product that comes earlier on the list should be installed first:

• Acronis Disk Director 11 Home
• Acronis True Image Home 2011
• Acronis True Image Home 2012
• True Image 2013 by Acronis
• Acronis True Image 2014

If you have already installed the products in the wrong order and now one of them does not work properly, follow these steps:

1. Uninstall the product that was installed last
2. Uninstall the product that was installed first
3. Run Acronis True Image Cleanup Utility  to remove the remaining traces of the installed products
4. Reboot the machine 
5. Install the products again in correct order

(!) If one of the products is Acronis True Image 2017 New Generation or Acronis True Image 2018 you should disable Active Protection before proceeding with installation. See this article for instructions

Create a login and password for backing up to network share

Symptoms

All 6 conditions below must be met:

1. Acronis True Image (any version) is installed on Windows 10 Enterprise or Education edition.
2. Windows version is 1709 or newer (Windows 10 Fall Creators Update or later).
3. Backup destination is a network share (NAS or any other kind of servers).
4. Network share is accessed through SMB2 network protocol.
5. Anonymous access to the share is allowed, meaning Windows uses a special "Guest" account to connect to the share.
6. Either of the following is true:

• You did not enter any credentials to access the share when the backup was set up
• The password for the NAS user account was changed, but not updated in Acronis True Image. Windows then kept falling back to the Guest account / anonymous access

In the above described setup backups will fail. Acronis True Image 2018 will display the following error:

The last backup has failed. Cannot open the backup

The full log, that can be obtained, for example, using the Log Viewer, will contain the message "This user can't sign in because this account is currently disabled"

Cause

Guest access to SMB2 shares is disabled in Windows 10 Fall Creators Update (version 1709) in Windows 10 Enterprise and Education editions for security reasons. See this Windows support article

To check what edition and version of Windows 10 you have, follow the steps below:

1. Open Windows Start menu
2. Type About your PC
3. Press Enter on keyboard
4. Look under Windows specifications

Solution

Edit connection settings, provide credentials for any account on the NAS/server with a non-empty password.

To specify credentials for the network share in Acronis True Image, do one of the following:

1) click "Edit connection settings" in the error message in the product's GUI

2) click on the backup destination, select the NAS/server and press Edit credentials

Provide login and password and press Connect

Navigate to the folder where backups are saved, click on it to re-select it and click OK to save changes.

Symptome

Das Backup mit Acronis True Image sollte auf eine externe Festplatte erstellt werden, die den Computer angeschlossen ist. 

Sie versuchen das Backup zu starten, die Sicherungsaufgabe startet aber nicht / pausiert oder fehlschlägt. Und bekommen Sie die Fehlermeldung:

Schließen Sie das externe Laufwerk <Laufwerksbuchstabe> an. 

Lösung 

Die Software kann Ihre externe Festplatte nicht erkennen. Um das Problem zu beheben, gehen Sie bitte wie Folgt vor:     

1. Stellen Sie sicher, dass die Festplatte fest angeschlossen ist.
2. Stellen Sie sicher, dass Sie das Laufwerk verwenden, das Sicherungsdateien enthält, die zuvor mit der aktuellen Sicherungsaufgabe erstellt wurden. Ein anderes Laufwerk wird nicht als das erforderliche Laufwerk für die aktuelle Sicherungsaufgabe erkannt, auch wenn dem Laufwerk derselbe Buchstabe zugewiesen wurde.

   Wenn Sie ein anderes Laufwerk verwenden möchten, das keine Dateien dieser Sicherung enthält, bearbeiten Sie die Aufgabe, und geben Sie das neue Laufwerk als Sicherungsziel an. 

3. Stellen Sie sicher, dass die Festplatte im Windows Explorer (oder im Finder auf einem Mac) sichtbar ist. Suchen Sie Ihr USB-Laufwerk und doppelklicken Sie, um es zu öffnen. Wenn es nicht geöffnet wird (Sie können die auf Ihrem USB-Laufwerk gespeicherten Dateien nicht sehen), müssen Sie herausfinden, warum Windows das Laufwerk nicht erkennen kann.    • Wählen Sie Ihre Festplatte
   • Klicken Sie auf "Optionen" und bearbeiten Sie die Backup-Optionen (z.B. die Planung auf eine Minute früher einstellen), speichern Sie die Änderungen.
   • Starten Sie das Backup

After the trial period expires, the program functionality is blocked and you will need to upgrade to the full version if you wish to continue using Acronis True Image. Your cloud backups created during trial remain in the cloud storage and can be used for recovery in the full version of Acronis True Image, if you switch from trial mode to Acronis True Image Advanced or Acronis True Image Premium.

You can create a rescue bootable media - a standalone version of Acronis True Image that you can use to boot a crashed machine or a machine without any operating system and restore an image of your system. Follow these instructions to create a bootable media.

How to create Acronis Bootable Rescue Media on a Windows computer

1. In the Tools section, click Rescue Media Builder:

2. Choose a creation method:

• Simple—This is the easiest option. Acronis True Image will choose the optimal media type for your computer. If you use Windows 7 or a later version, WinRE-based media will be created. For users of Windows XP, Acronis True Image checks if WAIK or WADK is installed on your computer, and if so, then WinPE-based media will be created. Otherwise, Acronis Media Builder will create a Linux-based media.
• Advanced—This option allows you to choose a media type, therefore you can create the rescue media not only for your computer, but for a computer running a different Windows version.

How to create Acronis Bootable Rescue Media on a Mac

To create Acronis bootable rescue media:

1. Connect a removable drive to your Mac.

The drive must have 4 GB (or more) of free space. For example, you can use an external hard drive or a USB flash drive. Note that CD and DVD media are not supported.

2. Open Acronis True Image 2019.

3. In the File menu, click Create Rescue Media. The Acronis Media Builder window opens.

4. Select the drive that you want to make bootable.

5. Click Create Media. If the drive is not empty, Acronis True Image 2019 will ask you to confirm deleting all the data stored on the drive. To confirm, click Erase.

6. When the progress is complete, disconnect the media and keep it in a safe place. You can store your own data on the media, but make sure that you do not delete or modify the Acronis boot files.

We recommend that you create a new rescue media every time you upgrade your Mac OS X to a newer version. Otherwise, your rescue media may not work properly.

Scenario

You have Acronis True Image 2019, the standard edition of Acronis True Image. You want to upgrade your edition to an edition with cloud storage or premium features.

Introduction

Acronis Survival Kit is a simple all-in-one recovery tool for external drive backups based on Acronis Bootable Rescue Media. 

To recover your computer in case of a failure, you need to have two crucial components—a backup of your system disk and a bootable rescue media. Previously these components were separated, for example, the system backup is stored on an external drive or Acronis Cloud and the bootable media is a small USB flash drive. In Acronis True Image 2019, an Acronis Survival Kit combines both components so that you could have a single device that has everything that you need to recover your computer in case of a failure. It is an external hard disk drive that contains both the Acronis Bootable Media files and a backup of your system partition, entire computer, or any disk backup. Bootable media component is created based on Acronis Bootable Rescue media.

Acronis Survival Kit can be created on external hard disk drive connected via USB with at least 32 GB of free space. During Acronis Survival Kit creation a hidden 2GB(Windows)/ 3.5GB(Mac) partition is created in the beginning of the drive and bootable media components are placed on that partition.

Supported file systems on external HDD for Acronis Survival Kit creation:

Windows version:

• NTFS
• FAT32
• exFAT
• If the drive has another file system, Acronis True Image 2019 suggests formatting the drive.

MacOS version:

• APFS
• HFS+
• If the drive has another file system, Acronis True Image 2019 suggests formatting the drive.

Solution

On a Windows machine:

To create Acronis Survival Kit, follow the steps below:

1. Make sure your external hard drive is plugged in
2. Launch Acronis True Image and click Add Backup, if needed
3. Select Entire PC or system disk as a backup source. In this example, disk C and recovery partition are selected

4. Click on the right tile to change backup destination and select the external hard drive as a destination. Click on Create Acronis Survival Kit (this option appears only when a suitable external hard drive is selected as a destination)

5. Click Create
   If the external HDD is not a GPT one and has a file system different from NTFS, FAT32, or exFAT, Acronis True Image 2019 suggests formatting the disk. Note that formatting will erase all data on the disk.
6. The bootable part of Acronis Survival Kit is created. Click Back up now to create a disk/Entire PC backup and complete Acronis Survival Kit creation.

7. After Acronis Survival Kit is created, the backup destination icon will change from generic external HDD to Acronis Survival Kit.

On a Mac:

To create Acronis Survival Kit, follow the steps below:

1. Make sure your external hard drive is plugged in
2. Launch Acronis True Image and click Add Backup, if needed
3. Select Entire Mac or system disk as a backup source. In this example, Entire Mac is selected

4. Click on the right tile to change backup destination and select the external hard drive as a destination. Click on Create Acronis Survival Kit (this option appears only when a suitable external hard drive is selected as a destination)

5. Click Create

6. The bootable part of Acronis Survival Kit is created. Click Back up to create a disk/Entire Mac backup and complete Acronis Survival Kit creation.

7. After Acronis Survival Kit is created, the backup destination icon will change from generic external HDD to Acronis Survival Kit.

Mac

Backing up the entire machine is the most complete way to protect your data. We recommend that you choose this option when you are not sure which data that you need to protect. When you select Entire PC as a backup type, Acronis True Image backs up all your internal hard drives in disk mode. The backup contains the operating system, installed programs, system settings, and all your personal data including your photos, music, and documents.

To back up the entire contents of your Windows computer

1. Start Acronis True Image.
2. On the sidebar, click Backup:
   
3. Entire PC is pre-selected, leave it as is:
   
4. You can specify a custom name for your backup:

5. Click Select destination then select a destination for the backup:
   
      
   You need Acronis True Image Advanced ot Premium subscription to be able to back up to Acronis Cloud. If an external drive is plugged in, it will be detected automatically and will be displayed in the list of available backup destinations. Acronis True Image also detects NAS in the network and displays it in the list of available destinations as well.    In this example we select Acronis Cloud as a destination.

6. Click Options to set the options for the backup, including schedule, scheme, archive cleanup and others:
   
7. You can select a schedule for creating regular backups of your system. If you select the option Do not schedule, then you will need to run the backup task manually every time using Back up now button

8. It is recommended to set how long the backups should be kept.
   If you store backups locally (on an USB drive, NAS, network share, etc.), set up cleanup rules in Backup Scheme. If you are not sure which options to select, leave the default selection.
   
   If you store backups in cloud, set up cloud, set up cleanup rules in Advanced:
   
9. Click Back up now or press the "down arrow" button to select another start time option:
   

 To back up the entire contents of your Mac

1. Start Acronis True Image.
2. On the sidebar, click Backup. If you already have other backups set up, click Add Backup to add a new backup task:

   You need Acronis True Image Advanced ot Premium subscription to be able to back up to Acronis Cloud. Do the following, if you want to back up individual disk/partitions or files/folders. For example, if you have several disks, but only want to backup partition C:\ with the operating system, or if you want to back up only a folder with important documents.

On a Windows computer

Introduction

Using Acronis True Image 2019 you can duplicate all your data and make macOS bootable on your new hard drive via Disk Cloning. You can use this to migrate to a new Mac computer or to clone the system to an external HDD and have a bootable copy of the system.

Keep in mind the following limitations:

• Only an entire disk can be cloned, not selected partitions.
• Fusion Drives are not supported as a cloning source and/or destination.

Solution

To clone your Mac disk follow the steps below:

1. If you have Parallels Desktop virtual machines running on your Mac, make sure that they are turned off.
2. Make sure that the source and destination drives are connected to your Mac. If you need to connect another Mac, make sure that it is connected in target disk mode. Refer to product documentation for details.
3. Open Acronis True Image 2019. On the sidebar, click Disk Cloning

4. By default, your internal system drive is pre-selected as a cloning source. If you want to change it, click the cloning source icon, and then select the drive that you want to clone.
   When you start the cloning operation, the destination drive will be formatted, and all of the data stored on it will be irreversibly erased. Make sure that the disk is empty or does not contain valuable data.
5. Click Clone to start the cloning operation.

6. If the destination disk contains data, Acronis True Image will ask for user confirmation to format the target disk. Click Format to proceed

    

Symptoms

You attempt to clone a disk with APFS (Apple File System). Cloning fails with the following error:

An error occured while cloning the disk. Cannot get the APFS contents

Cause

APFS is supported only in macOS High Sierra 10.13. This error occurs if you are trying to clone a disk with APFS file system on macOS Sierra 10.12 or OS X El Capitan 10.11

Earlier versions of macOS do not natively support APFS as it was introduced in macOS High Sierra 10.13

Solution

Acronis True Image 2019 for Mac cannot clone a disk with a file system that is not natively supported by the operating system. Disks with APFS can only be cloned on macOS High Sierra 10.13

Clone an active Windows system directly to a new drive without stopping your system and restarting Windows. This can be easily done with Acronis True Image 2019 and its Active Cloning feature.

Before cloning

Before performing the clone operation please read the information about Disk Cloning Utility

Keep in mind the following limitations:

• Dynamic disks cannot be cloned
• Source and target disks must have equal logical sector size. See this article for more information.

How to clone a disk:

1.     On the sidebar, click Tools, and then click Clone disk.

2.   On the Clone Mode step choose whether to use Automatic or Manual transfer mode. In Automatic transfer mode, the partitions will be proportionally resized to fit your new hard drive. The Manual mode provides more flexibility. See Manual partitioning for more details about the manual mode.

     If the program finds two disks, one partitioned and another unpartitioned, it will automatically recognize the partitioned disk as the source disk and the unpartitioned disk as the destination disk. In this case, the next steps will be bypassed and you will be taken to the cloning Summary screen.

3.  On the Source Disk step, select the disk that you want to clone.

4. On the Destination Disk step, select the destination disk for the cloned data.

   If any disk is unpartitioned, the program will automatically recognize it as the destination and bypass this step.

5. On the Finish step, ensure that the configured settings suit your needs, and then click Proceed.
6. After cloning operation completes, the system will inform you of the next steps to take

To use the cloned drive on the current hardware:

1. Turn off the computer
2. Remove the source drive
3. Turn on the computer

To use the cloned drive on similar hardware on a different computer:

1. Remove the cloned drive
2. Connect the cloned drive to a new computer
3. Turn on the computer

If you want to use cloned disk on dissimilar hardware, additional steps should be taken:

1. Remove the cloned drive and connect it to the new computer
2. Prepare necessary drivers for the target computer
3. Download Acronis UniversalBoot Media Builder and create Acronis Bootable media with Acronis Universal Restore tool: follow the instructions in Step 3 in Acronis True Image 2019: how to restore to dissimilar hardware
4. Use Acronis Universal Restore to make cloned system bootable on the new hardware: follow the instructions in Step 5 in Acronis True Image 2019: how to restore to dissimilar hardware

(!) Please be aware that the cloned drive will not have a letter within Windows. This is expected behavior. Acronis True Image creates an identical copy of the source disk, however Windows does not allow having two disks with the same letter in the same time, e.g. two C:\ disks, so the cloned disk is not assigned a letter by default. Once you boot a new machine from this drive, a letter will be assigned automatically.

Symptoms

There are two types of symptoms for this issue:

1. You save a backup to an exFAT partition, no matter on external or internal disk
2. You boot from Linux-based Acronis Bootable Media or Linux-based Acronis Survival Kit (available in Acronis True Image 2019) and try to browse for that backup
3.  exFAT partition with backup is displayed, but when you click on it to see the list of files and folders on it, it is shown as empty

OR

1. You save a backup to an exFAT partition, no matter on external or internal disk
2. You start recovery from that backup under Windows and the machine reboots as a part of recovery operation
3. After reboot, recovery fails with a message simlar to the following one:

   Failed to open backup. Make sure the backup location is accessible and contains all versions of the backup

Cause

Issue in the product. Linux-based bootable media and Linux-based Acronis Survival Kit do not read exFAT partitions properly.

Solution

There are two possible workarounds.

Create WinPE/WinRE-based bootable media:

Launch Acronis Rescue Media Builder and select Advanced media creation mode, then select WinPE-based media, and create a WinRE or WinPE based bootable media. WinRE and WinPE-based medias can read from exFAT partitions without issues. See this article for more information about Advanced media creation mode.

Format exFAT partition into NTFS

Boot into Windows, move all data from exFAT partition, format the partition as NTFS file system, then move all data back.

Symptoms

1. Installation of Acronis True Image on Windows 10 fails with the following error:

   1% is not a valid Win32 application

2. Installation log contains an error similar to the following one:

   CustomAction MsiTibInstall_TibApiDll__I returned actual error code 1603

Cause

There are two possible causes:

1. Installation file is damaged
2. tib.sys driver included in Acronis True Image is not compatible with Hypervisor-protected code integrity (HVCI) feature.

Solution

1. Verify that the installation file have been downloaded correctly. See this article for instructions

2. If the installation file was downloaded correctly but the issue still reproduces, disable HVCI on the machine as described in this article

Applies to: Acronis True Image 2019 Build 13660

Symptoms

1. You have VeraCrypt disk encryption software installed on your Windows system.
2. You install Acronis True Image 2019 build 13660 
3. A stop error (blue screen, "BSOD) occurs: SYSTEM_THREAD_EXCEPTION_NOT_HANDLED, driver file_protector.sys is referenced on the screen.

   This crash can be triggered by mounting a disk encrypted with VeraCrypt or other actions.

Cause

Known compatibility issue between Acronis True Image 2019 build 13660 with VeraCrypt's drivers.

Solution

Download, unpack and install the update to Acronis drivers: click here to download. Reboot the computer for changes to take effect. 

The fix will also be included with the next update for Acronis True Image 2019. This article will be updated when the build with fix is available.

Acronis True Image は、モバイルデバイスおよびNASデバイスの自動検出のために Bonjour Service (mDNSResponder.exe) を使用しています。

以下の表には、それぞれWindowsとMacOSで提供されるAcronis True Image 2019 の機能セットの共通点と相違点がまとめてあります:

* Macの場合は、最初のバックアップはいつも完全バックアップが行われ、次のバックアップからは増分バックアップになります。

** （Web ブラウザではなく）ソフトウェアのインターフェイスを使って、データを Acronis Cloud バックアップから元の場所に復元する際に適用されます。詳細については、こちら（Windows）または こちら（Mac）をご参照ください。

Acronis True Image 2019 のライセンスは、3種類があります:

• Acronis True Image 2019 Standard
• Acronis True Image 2019 Advanced
• Acronis True Image 2019 Premium

上記の各エディションには、コンピュータ1台、3台または5台用のライセンスがあります。どのライセンスでも、Acronis True Image を Windows または Mac にインストールできます。

Acronis True Image ライセンス

Standard版のライセンスは無期限なので、有効期間の制限はありません。年間サブスクリプションの場合は、ライセンスの有効期間は1年間となります。その後、サブスクリプションを更新すると、製品の使用を続けることができます。

Acronis True Image サブスクリプションの有効期間が切れた後、サブスクリプションが更新されるまで、製品のすべての機能がブロックされます。しかし、有効期間が切れても、バックアップ済みのデータにはアクセスできます：

• 有効期限が切れてから5日間以内、クラウドストレージへバックアップできます。
• 有効期限が切れてから30日間以内、クラウドストレージからデータを復元できます。有効期限が切れてから30日間が経ったら、クラウドストレージに保存されたデータは削除されます。
• ローカルのバックアップは、サブスクリプションの有効期限が切れてもいつでも復元できます。

モバイルデバイスとは、iOSまたはAndroidを使用しているデバイスのことです。Windows オペレーティングシステムを使用しているタブレットは、コンピュータとして扱われます。　

Acronis クラウドストレージ ライセンス

Acronis True Image サブスクリプションには、Acronis クラウドストレージが含まれます。Acronis True Image Advanced サブスクリプションを購入する場合、クラウドストレージのクォータは250GBまたは500GBを選ぶことができます。 Acronis True Image Premium サブスクリプションの場合は、1TB、2TB、3TB、4TB、5TBのクォータがあります。Acronis クラウドストレージを持っていると、使える機能が増えます。例えば、バックアップおよびアーカイブされたデータを Acronis Cloud 内に保管でき、どこからでもいつでもこれらのデータへのアクセスおよび共有ができます。また、お使いのFacebookアカウントをバックアップすることで、SNSのコンテンツ（写真、動画、いいね！をしたページなど）も保護できます。

Advanced および Premium 版の場合、Acronis クラウドストレージのサブスクリプションを上記の各クォータまで増やすことができます。

クォータは、お使いのアカウントに登録されているすべてのコンピュータで共有されます。

サブスクリプションのライセンス ポリシー

ライセンスによって、サブスクリプション期間、それから、製品をインストールするコンピュータ（物理または仮想）の台数が異なります。モバイルデバイス数には、制限がありません。サブスクリプションの有効期間は、どの時点でも三(3)年間を超えることはありません。各ライセンスには、特定の容量のAcronis クラウドストレージが付いています。また、それとは別に追加のAcronis クラウドストレージを購入することもできます。ライセンスを持っている各エンドユーザーは、五（5）ライセンス以内であれば、Acronis True Imageのコピーを同時に利用できます。他の制限については、Acronisの公正使用ポリシーをご参照ください。無制限のクラウドストレージが提供される有効なサブスクリプションを既に持っているカスタマーは、2019年1月1日までサブスクリプションを更新できます。それ以外の場合は、無制限のクラウドストレージが提供されません。

Acronis True Image 2019 にアップグレードできる製品

現在有効なサブスクリプションをお持ちの場合、新しいバージョンのビルドがリリースされた後、そのビルドを無償でご自分のアカウントからダウンロードできます。この新しいバージョンは、現在お持ちのサブスクリプションの有効期限まで使用できます。
