There is no recycle bin feature in Acronis Cloud storage at the moment.
Symptoms
An Acronis True Image backup that you had in Acronis Cloud storage, was deleted, and you want to restore such backup.
Examples, when such situation can happen, include:
Backups in Acronis Cloud are deleted automatically in 30 days after the subscription expiration date, if the subscription is not renewed.
Accidental deletion of backups through the Delete option.
Older backup versions within one backup job are deleted according to the configured backup options.
Intentional deletion of the entire Acronis account and associated data in Acronis Cloud Storage.
Description
A backup that has been deleted from Acronis Cloud cannot be recovered. Unfortunately, there is no such feature as "Recycle Bin" in Acronis Cloud yet. It may be added in the future. At the moment deleted backups are gone for good. You can always re-upload the same data under a new or old name: click Add backup in Acronis True Image and choose Acronis Cloud as destination to create a new backup task.
To avoid unwanted deletion of backups in Acronis Cloud, check that auto-renewal is enabled for your Acronis True Image subscription:
Search your email inbox for invoice for your Acronis True Image purchase.
Follow the included link for managing your subscription.
If your subscription is not set for auto-renewal, you will see the link "Reactivate". To ensure your backups are always available, click the link "Reactivate" and confirm the subscription reactivation. Example, how such links look like, is given at https://kb.acronis.com/content/59634

You are using our product on macOS Catalina (10.15). You get this message from the system:
Legacy System Extension
Existing software on your system loaded a system extension signed by Acronis which will be incompatible with a future version of macOS. Contact the developer for support.
Cause
Due to Apple's new policy for the next version of macOS (10.16), system extensions will no longer be supported in this next version. Currently Acronis True Image uses system extensions which is the reason why you see this message.
Solution
The current version of macOS (Catalina, 10.15) still supports system extensions; no additional action is required to continue your work with our product. The message only informs you that the next version of macOS will no longer support application functionality that relies on system extensions.
Currently, we are working on updating our product and will release a new build compatible with the next macOS version by this version release date.
After updating to macOS 10.15.4 backups fail with the following error:
The last backup as failed. Failed to enumerate directory 'Macintosh HD — Data:/private/var/db/lockdown/'. It may be corrupted or does not exist. Please check the disk for errors.
Cause
Catalina update 10.15.4 restricted access to folder /private/var/db/lockdown/ for security reasons.
Solution
As a workaround, exclude folder /private/var/db/lockdown/ from backup:
When configuring a backup, click Settings, and then click Exclusions;
Click the Plus sign, browse to the folder /private/var/db/lockdown/, select it and click Exclude.

The California Consumer Privacy Act (CCPA) is a state law, which aims at enhancing the privacy rights and consumer protection of Californian residents. It is the first comprehensive privacy regulation in the USA. It became effective January 1, 2020, with some exceptions (Cal. Civ. Code §§ 1798.100-1798.199) and enforcement postponed until July 1, 2020.
Why it is important?
The CCPA grants California residents new rights regarding their personal information and imposes various data protection duties on certain entities conducting business in California.
How does it apply?
The CCPA only protects natural persons (individuals/consumers) and does not cover legal persons.
A "consumer" who has rights under the CCPA is "a natural person who is a California resident." The California Code of Regulations defines a resident as "(1) every individual who is in the State for other than a temporary or transitory purpose, and (2) every individual who is domiciled in the State who is outside the State for a temporary or transitory purpose. All other individuals are nonresidents."
The CCPA obligations apply to an organization ("business") that:
is for-profit;
collects consumers' personal information, or on the behalf of which such information is collected;
determines the purposes and means of the processing of consumers' personal information;
does business in California; and
meets any of the following thresholds:
has annual gross revenue in excess of $25 million;
alone or in combination, annually buys, receives for the business's commercial purposes, sells or shares for commercial purposes the personal information of 50,000 or more consumers, households, or devices; or
derives 50% or more of its annual revenues from selling consumers' personal information.
Which information is covered?
CCPA defines personal information not only as such which can be associated with, or could reasonably be linked, directly or indirectly, with a particular consumer but also to a household. This extends the scope of personal data compared to GDPR. Except for the common types of personal information, this can then include among others also: Commercial information, including records of personal property, products or services purchased, obtained, or considered, or other purchasing or consuming histories or tendencies.
What are the main terms?
Consumer– an individual, Californian resident. Corresponds to “data subject” as per GDPR.
Business - a for-profit entity that determines the purposes and means of the processing of consumer's personal information, doing business in California. Corresponds to “controller” as per GDPR.
Service provider– a for-profit entity that processes information on behalf of a CCPA-covered business. Corresponds to “processor” as per GDPR.
Note: As with GDPR, a business must disclose consumer's personal information for a business purpose only pursuant to a written contract. The contract should prohibit the entity receiving the information from retaining, using, or disclosing the personal information for any purpose other than for the specific purpose of performing the services specified in the contract.
For the cases when our customers are ‘businesses’ (in the meaning of CCPA) and need to sign a specific contract with Acronis, acting as a service provider (in the meaning of CCPA), we can provide you with a Data Processing Addendum (DPA).
Please note that if you are a reseller, distributor or corporate end user who obtains Acronis cloud products through a service provider, other reseller or distributor, you need a DPA with that service provider/reseller or distributor. Only businesses who purchase directly from Acronis can enter into a DPA with Acronis!
If you want to sign a DPA with us, please send a request to data-protection-office@acronis.com or contact your Partner Account Manager/Technical Account Manager.
More information on the DPA signing process can be found here: GDPR compliance
Sell/selling– under CCPA the term covers selling, renting, releasing, disclosing, disseminating, making available, transferring, or otherwise communicating orally, in writing, or by electronic or other means, a consumer’s personal information by the business to another business or a third party for monetary or other valuable consideration. “Selling” is similar to “processing” under GDPR. The word should not be interpreted in its common definition. It rather specifies any processing associated with monetary or other valuable consideration.
Note that Acronis does not “sell” personal information in the meaning of CCPA!
What rights do I have under CCPA?
While it incorporates several GDPR concepts, such as the rights of access, portability, and data deletion, there are several areas where the CCPA requirements are more specific than those of the GDPR, or where the GDPR goes beyond the CCPA requirements.
Under CCPA Californians, have the following main rights:
The right to know what personal information is collected, used, shared or sold, both as to the categories and specific pieces of personal information, including the right this data to be provided free of charge in a readily usable format that allows for the transmission of this data to third parties (data portability);
The right to delete personal information held by businesses and by extension, a business’s service provider;
The right to opt-out of sale of personal information. Consumers are able to direct a business that sells personal information to stop selling that information. Children under the age of 16 must provide opt in consent, with a parent or guardian consenting for children under 13.
Note that Acronis does not “sell” personal information in the meaning of CCPA!
The right to non-discrimination in terms of price or service when a consumer exercises a privacy right under CCPA (Note that Acronis does not discriminate consumers exercising their privacy rights!).
How do I exercise my rights under CCPA?
If you want to exercise some of your rights under CCPA or have any other related concern, you can
directly submit a privacy support ticket to our Acronis Customer Central in section Privacy or use this direct link https://support.acronis.com/submit-ticket. Please put subject “CCPA” and the specific right you want to exercise (e.g. “Right to delete/delete my data”);

Folder C:\Acronis Active Protection Storage contains files with .ENCRYPTED extension. Files are related to custom or hand-written programs on the computer.
Cause
When hand-written programs modify files on the computer, Acronis Active Protection may have a false positive and detect that program as ransomware, especially if some files or databases are modified quickly.
When ransomware is detected, Active Protection stops the suspicious program, reverts the changes made by the program and puts copies of the modified files in C:\Acronis Active Protection Storage folder. Extension .ENCRYPTED is added to these files to indicate that they are the copies of original encrypted files.
These copies can be used for forensic purposes (investigate the encryption in order to learn more about the ransomware) or in case user pays the ransom and has the opportunity to decipher them. This is "plan B" for rare cases when Acronis Active Protection cannot restore the original non-encrypted files or they get corrupted during recovery.
Solution
Whitelist the custom application that causes a false-positive ransomware detection and triggers file recovery.
Acronis True Image supports VSS-aware databases for both disk-level and file-level backup.
To be able to backup a running database(that is compatible with Microsoft VSS) on a disk level or on a file level, make sure that the option VSS is selected in Snapshot for backup in backup options. See Performance of backup operation for more information on snapshot configuration.
Consult database documentation to learn whether it is VSS-aware, or contact the vendor for assistance.
Acronis True Image does not support recovery to a live database. To recover database files, either use bootable media or stop the database before performing recovery in Windows.
if the database software is not VSS-aware, you can use pre/post commands during backup to stop the read-write operations and ensure database consistency for the backup. Please note that some databases require complete shutdown before backup starts for the database to be saved in consistent state, pausing I/O may not be enough.
We recommend to contact the database software vendor to learn more about proper quiescing/stopping of the database before the backup. Specific configurations may require using different commands/scripts.
Please note that Acronis True Image is not designed to back up enterprise-grade database programs such as SQL Server or Exchange. For proper backup of such databases we recommend to use Acronis Cyber Backup. Acronis Cyber Backup offers both application-aware backup and backup of individual databases, as well as granular recovery.

After you recover the system using this bootable media, the machine does not boot.
Cause
Issue in macOS 10.15.5.
The chflags() system call can no longer set the SF_FIRMLINK flag on a folder on an APFS volume. Rather than fail with an error code that could be detected, it fails silently – it exits with a success exit status, but silently fails to set the special flag. You can find more details about this bug affecting other software in this blog post.
Solution
Install macOS 10.15.6 and re-create Acronis bootable media.
(!) Only version 10.15.5 is affected by this issue. If bootable media was created using an earlier version, e.g. 10.15.2, it is safe to use.
This article describes how to configure backup if you want to back up individual disk/partitions or files/folders on your local hard drive. To install Acronis True Image on your computer, download the installation file from your account or from the purchase confirmation e-mail. We recommend to use the latest available build of the product
Prerequisites
Perform installation under Administrator account (or account with administrative privileges)
In case you are upgrading from an earlier version of Acronis True Image: If your current version of Acronis True Image is Acronis True Image 2020 or Acronis True Image 2019, the new version will simply update it; there is no need to remove the old version and reinstall the software. If your current version is Acronis True Image 2018 or older, we recommend that you remove the currently installed version before installing Acronis True Image 2021.
In Windows, Acronis True Image is installed on system disk, there is no way to change the installation path.
Acronis True Image installer is 32-bit; the program can be used on 32-bit systems as well as on 64-bit systems (there is no separate installer for 64-bit systems).
For best experience, we recommend to close other running applications before starting installation of Acronis True Image.
Temporarily deactivate antivirus software before starting installation
When installing on a Windows machine, if system requires a reboot (e.g. after installing Windows updates or other applications), please reboot the machine before starting installation of Acronis True Image. This will help avoid conflicts with locked files
If you need help installing and configuring Acronis True Image, you can order Initial Setup Service. Acronis Initial Setup Service allows you to schedule a live 1:1 phone call and a remote desktop session with a priority support engineer. During this call you will get personalized help installing Acronis True Image, guiding you through the product options and configuring a backup plan to best meet your needs.
You created multiple full backups in .tibx format. Then some of the backups were deleted or moved to a different location.
When you try to validate the backup using Validate all versions option, validation fails.
Cause
Specifics of product implementation. If some of the backups were moved or deleted outside Acronis True Image interface, then the integrated backup structure will be broken, resulting in the inability to validate the backup, as some parts of the backup archive are missing.
Solution
You can validate the latest backup slice using quick validation: go to the backup menu and select Validate the latest backup version in the drop-down:
